Crossing the Threshold : An Evening of LGBTQA Stories of Spirit
July 19 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
This evening is dedicated to the belief that the greatest gift we have to give is the gift of our story and the gift of being an audience to another’s story. Stories are a powerful thing. They are the oldest and most ancient ways we have to pass on the wisdom of our experience. The practice of sharing and hearing our stories has the power to connect us like nothing else. Telling stories helps us tell another person what “we see” and often invites us to find the threads that bind us all together by first understanding the differences in our experiences.
Join us for an evening of storytelling. You will hear six stories about Crossing the Threshold; 6 LGBTQA Stories of the Spirit. In every spiritual context the metaphor of the “door” exists; of crossing one threshold to another. “Crossing a threshold” can be about coming home to a greater power, oneself, a community that welcomes you. It can be about enlightenment and wisdom or about how faith and spirituality is lived out in activism, service, and action. It can be about many things.
Rest assured that you will hear six profound and moving stories about the cross section of LGBTQA identity and spirituality as each storyteller understands it.
This event is hosted and sponsored by Immanuel Presbyterian Church an LGBTQA inclusive and affirming faith community. There will be wine and beer available by donation as well as non-alcoholic choices. All ages are welcome and this event is free but there will be an “offering” taken up to help cover the costs and support similar on-going programming of the Immanuel community.
