Fall Sunday Worship Series: The Gospel of Mark & Turning Things Upside Down!
September 19 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:30 am on Sunday, repeating until November 21, 2021
This series will be grounded mostly in Mark’s gospel which are the lectionary texts for the season. The texts are rich with imagery/exhortation to “turn the world upside” down or that the “kingdom” Jesus desires looks very different. Mark also deals a lot with mystery and the idea of the “already not yet.” (Mark starts with everything is fulfilled and complete and yet not.) What is the divine’s role in this and what is our role in this? In many ways Mark is a portrait of Jesus and/or how Jesus sees the world/faithful living – with a focus on a world and community that is transparent and justice oriented. It is a wild and wonderful existence. It is a set of texts with lots of hopes and dreams for the future So I will work with all that. And, having lived through (still living in) a time that feels “turned upside down” I think this will all resonate. Pastor Tad
