Dear Friends,

I am pleased to announce a free lecture series at the University of Puget Sound focusing on the 2020 presidential campaign entitled “2020: Battle for the Soul of America.”

Regardless of your political persuasion, Donald Trump has been a president like none other in American history. The 2020 presidential campaign and election promises to be full of intense drama, precedent-shattering surprises, and vicious partisanship. What Democrat will win the chance to take on President Trump? Will Trump’s base hold? What is the mood of the independent-minded voters who will ultimately decide who is inaugurated on January 20, 2021?

I hope you’ll be able to join me and my good friend, political scientist Dr. Michael Artime, for a series of seven free lectures as we unpack details of presidential politics, campaigns, and as we experience together one of the most consequential elections in our nation’s history.

Dates and Times: All lectures will be on a Thursday evening from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and will include a lecture along with sufficient time for questions, comments, and conversation. You will note that we have not identified specific topics for each date as we want to be able to respond in a timely manner to current developments. Please mark your calendars for the following dates:

  • October 24, 2019
  • February 6, 2020
  • March 19, 2020
  • June 18, 2020
  • September 17, 2020
  • October 22, 2020
  • November 5, 2020

Location: University of Puget Sound, McIntyre Hall, Room 103

October 24, 2019 Lecture: The first lecture will be in less three weeks and we will be focusing on impeachment, both from a historical perspective as well as what the impeachment inquiry might mean for the 2020 campaign and election.

We hope to see you there as we engage together in civil conversation about the direction of this nation that we all dearly love.

All the best,
Mike
