Lenten Sunday Series 2022

March 20, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 10:30 am on Sunday, repeating until April 3, 2022

The theme for 2022 is The Wilderness Speaks.

Together at IPC, we will again take this journey together as we seek to enter into Jesus’ story. Our Lenten journey this year will be entitled, The Wilderness Speaks. We are invited to walk into the wilderness guided by the Spirit just as Jesus was. To confront what needs to be confronted within ourselves and in our wider world. To deepen our own connection to God, one another, and ourselves and to find further resolution for the path God has us on these days. To do all of that we will enter into a deep “season of listening,” trusting that “the wilderness speaks.”

How does the wilderness speak? How does the wilderness prepare us for rebirth? What is the “wildness” we encounter in ourselves, in others, and in God and how does that “wildness” shape us moving forward? Sometimes the way of God and the way of the Spirits movement is very primal, very wild. It gets to the heart of our messiness and our humanity in its rawest form.

We know that there are voices or sounds in the wilderness – who or what is speaking to us right now? We know that there can also be silence and aloneness in the wilderness – what are we hearing on the wind or in the quite or lonely spaces of our lives?

I am looking forward to our journey ahead into the wilderness. And one of the things I am really looking forward to is that some of our congregation members – Jonny Eberle, Glenna Cook, Debbye Larsen, and Sharon Russell are going to be writing some of the liturgy for us during the Lenten season! Thanks to them and what a gift! I hope and pray that in this Lent you will listen, will hear, and will find the path leading through and out of the wilderness and into what is next…clearer then ever.
