Peace & Global Witness Offering
October 3 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Peace & Global Witness Offering: This Offering is taken on World Communion Sunday, the first Sunday in October. The Offering is received to support Presbyterian Peacemaking, global witness and outreach beyond the United States, and peacemaking and/or outreach to the world. The Offering was created in 1980 to support the efforts of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to live out a deeper commitment to peacemaking as part of our faithfulness to God. 25% of the collection stays with the congregation and is donated to IPC MaP, 25% goes to our Olympia Presbytery and 50% goes to the PCUSA Peacemaking Mission. For 2021 the committee has chosen to send the IPC 25% portion to the Aaron Stevens & family.
From Pastor Tad: 25% of our World Communion Peace and Global Witness offering this year will be going to help support medical costs and lost wages for an old friend of IPC, Aaron Stevens. Some of you may remember Aaron’s partnership with Pastor Dave when Aaron was with Broadway Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA) and helped bring the Cathedral series to IPC. Pastor Tad has known Aaron and Faith and their kids and extended family for over 20 years and Aaron has been a force for good within the faith community and the arts and music community in Tacoma. He is an amazing musician but also an amazing collaborator and supporter of other artists. Aaron had emergency heart surgery this summer and has been back in the hospital in critical condition with further complications. He has a long way to go and potentially more surgeries. Please give generously and keep the Stevens in your prayers.
You can give in worship, send a check, by PayPal. Please put Peace Offering in the memo line.
