The Contemplative Circle @ IPC…

…an offering of community healing, support and skills for these times.

Introducing the creation of The Contemplative Circle @ IPC, occurring at 7 p.m. via zoom on the second Tuesdays of the month during the summer of 2020: June 9, July14, August 11. It is our hope the CC@IPC may continue beyond this summer in some form.

The CC@IPC has grown out of our Sunday morning Adult Nurture class, “Everything Belongs: The Gift of Contemplative Prayer” led by the Rev Monty Smith.
We have recognized a clear need for an ongoing offering of community healing, support and skills for these times.

The tentative format will include the following:
Opening Instrumental music
Community music
A Reading
Guided Practice 5-7 minutes
A Reading
Guided practice 5-7 minutes
Quiet Contemplation
Community conversation around our personal and communal experience
Closing and sending forth
!
We are fortunate Rev. Monty has agreed to facilitate our circle time and the guided practice. It is our intention to involve a variety of voices in the readings and music. We also hope to find in this circle, an opportunity to reach out and widen the circle, seeking those who are in search of community, healing, support and coping skills.

The theme for these three Tuesdays is The Journey is Home. These stories will weave together the theme of pilgrimage.
Feminist Nelle Morton, in her book, “The Journey is Home,” quotes Ruth Duck: We are not lost, though wandering, for by your light we come, and we are still God’s people, the journey is our home.
