TN@IPC Movie Night
May 29 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Explore some of the history of Tacoma’s civil rights movement from the 50s to the 70s through the screening of the documentary “Transforming Tacoma: The Struggle for Civil Rights.” The documentary was originally part of a 2008 Washington State History Museum exhibit. Recently it was shown during the launch event for this year’s Pierce County Reads, which features the book “March” by Congressman John Lewis. Following the documentary there will be a discussion with filmmaker Sid Lee and historian Mike Honey, a former Southern civil rights and civil liberties organizer, and currently Haley Professor of Humanities at the University of Washington Tacoma.
